About Dr. Anna Rowley

Anna believes that therapy is the ultimate act of self-care. Whether you're feeling anxious or depressed or that your life isn't going exactly as planned, talk therapy is a way to regain control and feel able to make new and different choices. Anna provides hope, support, caring, and insight to her clients. Her approach is to meet every client where they are in their lives and help them discover new and different ways of relating to themselves, their emotions, family, friends, or partner.

Training and Education

Dr. Anna Rowley is currently completing a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has an MPhil in group work and a Ph.D. from London University. Anna worked at Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital in London for over ten years. It was there that she started working in the field of resilience. Following her time at the hospital, she founded a consulting practice providing psychological services and resilience training to executives working in the technology sector. A couple of years ago, Anna decided she wanted to broaden her focus and work with children, adults, and couples in her local community. She is delighted to join the team at Creative Psychological Health Services to learn and grow from her work with clients and the team.

Anna emigrated to the United States with her wife and cat over 25 years ago. She lives in Maryland and has three children who live in the US and England. She has a dog, Remi, and two cats, Ferg and Isha.

Therapeutic Approach

Anna utilizes different talk therapy approaches such as CBT, ACT, and FACT. She also provides psychodynamic psychotherapy for the client who wants to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Anna has completed Level 1 training in the Gottman method couples therapy and is looking forward to using this in her work at the practice.

She is passionate about utilizing the therapeutic benefits of gaming and Virtual Reality, and wants to work with LGBT+ children and adolescents and young people with body image vulnerabilities. Anna is also looking forward to continuing her work with adults.
