Lauren Berdeguez, M.Ed., LCPC (she/her) is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. Lauren specializes in person-centered therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Lauren works with kids, teens, adults, and families.

About Lauren Berdeguez

The core of Lauren's belief system is having an utmost positive regard for each client. She values the power of connection as a tool for healing.  In addition to connection, Lauren uses compassion and creativity to help clients explore the relationship they have with themselves in the world. Lauren believes it to be her privilege to sit with each client, as they work together on presenting problems. In addition, Lauren has much experience in involving family systems and family therapy into her practice, if appropriate to the client.  Lauren resides in Maryland with her husband and child. She enjoys being in nature and is always listening to music.

Training and Education

Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and a School Counselor in the Howard County Public School System. Lauren received a masters in school counseling at Loyola University of Maryland.  

For the past several years, Lauren gained experience in counseling children, adolescents, and adults, while working at an outpatient clinic in Woodlawn, MD. As a school counselor, Lauren gained experience working with families and students from elementary, middle, and high school. Prior to becoming a therapist, Lauren spent over 8 years working as an educator in the elementary school setting.  

Therapeutic Approach

Lauren utilizes client-centered practices, such as talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, creative therapy (art, music, narrative), and dialectic behavioral therapy, in her therapeutic treatment. She specializes in working with children, adolescents, families, and adults through the power of the therapeutic relationship. She is committed to continual learning and training opportunities for ever widening as a practitioner. 

Additionally, Lauren's background in education assists her in facilitating advocating for clients who need accommodations in the school setting. This includes, but isn't limited to clients who may have an IEP or 504 Plan.  Further, Lauren is navigating the virtual learning landscape with clients and families.
