Training and Education
Delyza has 18+ years of experience working as an elementary school counselor supporting students and families with social/emotional needs, with school success plans (including 504 plans and IEPs,) in addition to various other educational needs and supports. She obtained her Master's Degree in School Counseling from McDaniel College and her licensure credentials from Walden University. She has her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from Frostburg State University. Delyza also has a second Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College. In addition to her school experience she has previously been working with children with neurodivergence to build their social capacity.
Therapeutic Approaches
Delyza incorporates cognitive behavior therapy and child/person centered approaches in therapy. Her clinical interests include working with clients with neurodivergence, anxiety, trauma, confidence, and self-esteem difficulties. Delyza is passionate about empowering clients to communicate and advocate for their needs in an effort to find balance and joy in their life. In addition to talk therapy she can incorporate play, art, and/or fitness/wellness into in-person and telehealth services. Delyza plans to incorporate one on one therapy, as well as group sessions to build social/emotional competencies in children, adolescents, and parents/adults. She values a collaborative approach in which change can be facilitated, fostered, and supported by the client's support system.
