Julianne Meagher (she/her) is an LCSW-C, Board Approved Supervisor, and RPT-S. She specializes in adult, child and adolescent mental health, trauma, and play therapy. She enjoys working clients experiencing a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. She is passionate about helping children express themselves through play when they may not yet have the vocabulary to do so and helping adults work through life transitions and the anxiety that can accompany these changes.

About Julianne Meagher

Julianne Meagher is a social worker and play therapist born and raised in Central Maryland. As a child, she recognized that participating in expressive arts helped her to manage her own anxiety and build her self-confidence. She knew she wanted to work in the mental health field from a young age and fell in love with play therapy as soon as she learned about it. She enjoys engaging in adventures and playful activities outside of the office with her husband and children.

Education and Training

Julianne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Supervisor with the State of Maryland and Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. She received her BA in Psychology with a minor in Theater from Washington College and her Masters in Social Work from The Catholic University of America. 

Julianne has extensive training and experience working with children and families as well as adults. Through her work in different Outpatient Mental Health Clinics in Maryland, she has worked with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and familial situations. She has worked with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. Through her work over the past fifteen years, she has also worked with countless children and adults who have suffered the loss of a parent or loved one to the disease of addiction. She has experience and comfort addressing the complicated grief that can be associated with this type of loss. Julianne continues to seek out new and exciting ways to connect with adults, children, and families including incorporating digital play therapy tools through telehealth.

Therapeutic Approach

In the office, Julianne seeks to provide clients with a warm, comfortable environment where everyone has the ability to be heard and express themselves. She enjoys incorporating play, art, and humor into sessions and specifically tries to engage clients using topics and activities they enjoy. She utilizes a variety of approaches including talk and play therapies and believes that each client deserves the approach that works best for them. She offers both in office and telehealth appointments.
