Megan Bleil
Drama Therapist & Post-Master's Therapist Intern, RDTAbout Megan Bleil
Therapy should be a space in which you feel safe, supported, and understood. Megan takes the time to get to know you as a whole person, including your strengths and your stories. Megan employs a person-centered, narrative approach to therapy, integrating drama and the expressive arts. Stories are the fabric of our lives. She helps guide individuals and families to explore narratives they have constructed around experiences, which leads to discovering new, empowering narratives. Megan uses bibliotherapy and devised storytelling to help clients gain insight into personal experiences, practice empathy, and explore alternate roles, perspectives, and solutions. As a drama therapist, she guides clients through role-play and projective exercises to help them find their voice and rediscover their imagination.
Training and Education
Since graduating from Kansas State University in 2011, Megan has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, schools, and private practice. She has also helped manage the Education department of a professional children's theatre, devising and facilitating in-school residencies to support mental health and social-emotional learning.
Therapeutic Approach
She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan using drama therapy, expressive arts, narrative therapy, CBT, and somatic processing. Before setting in Maryland six year ago, Megan lived across the United States (and even lived abroad growing up!) She is a member of the North American Drama Therapy Association and the American Counseling Association. She lives in Mount Airy with her husband and two children. She loves to read, write, and work on challenging jigsaw puzzles in her free time.
It is an honor to serve as a witness to your story and help you feel empowered, confident, and in control of your personal journey.
