Shania Greenwood (she/her) is a Psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has experience working with diverse populations and individuals aged 16 and up. Her specialties include self-esteem, body image, parenting, and budding adults. As of May 2022, Shania is not accepting new clients.

Shania adheres to the belief that people inherently have the best intentions for themselves, and external barriers prevent them from being the authentic selves they may have established in childhood.  She values interpersonal connections and utilizes them as a tool for healing. Additionally, Shania has a passion for advocacy and creativity, helping clients explore how they show up for themselves and how they present in their world. Shania has experience incorporating CBT and DBT into her practice with her clients when appropriate. Shania currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Training and Education

Shania is a Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. She received her master’s in applied psychology with a specialization in counseling from the University of Baltimore. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University and her pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Multicultural Training Program at Boston Medical Center. Her dissertation focuses on social media’s influence on body-image satisfaction among African and Black American women.

In the past, Shania has had experience as a school-based mental health clinician providing treatment to low-income children and their families. Her clinical specializations include treating patients with self-esteem and body image issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and working with the LGBTQIA+ community. She also enjoys working with parents to develop behavior management skills and foster healthy relationships with their children. 

Therapeutic Approach

Shania practices a narrative therapeutic approach. She has experience working with diverse populations and with individuals aged 16 and up. Shania has experience with administering and completing psychological assessments and utilizing shorter assessments, including the BDI and BAI. Additionally, from her work in school-based mental health, she has experience advocating for clients who may need accommodations in the school setting.

She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPSi). She is also a certified notary public.
