Shania Greenwood (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor and doctoral student pursuing a degree in Clinical Psychology. She has experience in working with diverse populations as well as working with ages 11 and up. Her specialties include self-esteem, body image, parenting, and budding adults. As of May 2022, Shania is not accepting new clients.

Shania adheres to a belief system that people inherently have the best intentions for themselves, however external barriers prevent them from being their authentic selves that they may have established in their childhood.  She values interpersonal connection and utilizes it as a tool for healing. Additionally, Shania has a passion for advocacy and creativity to help clients explore how they show up for themselves and how they present in their world. Shania has experience incorporating CBT and DBT into her practice with her clients when appropriate. Shania currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Training and Education

Shania is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland and a third-year clinical psychology practicum student. She received her masters in applied psychology with a specialization in counseling from the University of Baltimore. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University. Her dissertation is focused on social media impact on body-image satisfaction amongst African and Black American women.

In the past, Shania has had experience as a school-based mental health clinician providing treatment to low-income children and their families. Her clinical specializations include treating patients with self-esteem and body image issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and working with the LGBTQIA+ community. She also enjoys working with parents on behavior management skills and fostering healthy relationships with their children. 

Therapeutic Approach

Shania practices from a psychodynamic/ humanistic-existential therapeutic approach. She has experience in working with diverse populations as well as working with ages 11 and up. Shania has experience with administrating and completing psychological assessments and utilizing shorter assessments including the BDI and BAI. Additionally, from her experience working in school-based mental health, she has experience in advocating for clients who may need accommodations in the school setting.

She is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPSi). She is also a certified notary public.
